Senior
Power in Action!

For the past 29 years,
JPAC members have been fighting for programs and protections that
benefit older New Yorkers and their families. Founded in 1977, by
the Jewish Association for Services
for the Aged, JPAC's mission is to give older adults a voice
in the community change and policy-making processes affecting their
lives. These battles have taken place on many fronts, from the neighborhood
level all the way to halls of Congress. And our organizing efforts
have paid off. Check out our victories.
Through
it all, JPAC has consistently cultivated and promoted the leadership
skills and potential of older adults. In 1994, JPAC initiated a
one of a kind leadership and advocacy training program, the Institute
for Senior Action. Since its inception, 572 seniors have polished
and honed their leadership skills through JPAC's Institute. What's
more we have recently gathered the wisdom of years of successful
advocacy training and published a user-friendly manual, called "A
Tool Kit for Advocacy".
